Mayan children 1

After leaving the Ek Balam temple area, we went into the sweet little Mayan town. Kids running through the streets...beautiful smiling mothers peeked through the doors of the open-air cement buildings...many were weaving beautiful Mayan hammocks of multi-colored thread while chickens ran across the floor.

We were blessed to be invited into one one family’s home where they showed us their loom and taught me how to use gords to make a water drum...as used by the ancient Maya.

I drummed and sang for them and chased the children with the didjeridu.

While in Ek Balam, i was able to record myself singing and beatboxing in a small stone structure atop a hill next to the large pyramid. Amazing acoustics!!!

I am in Yucatan, Mexico.
Land of the Maya.
Land of ancient temples where secrets of the Spirit blow in the wind and rise up as mist from the turquoise sea.

There is so much to tell.

I have come here to visit the ancient temples and to immerse myself in the ancient spiritual culture

I have had many incredible adventures since my arrival.

Here i will share a few.

I first went to the famous Chitzen Itza...astounding and profound, but filled with tourists...and no incredible acoustical spaces are accesible.

Then, with the help of a couple new friends from Chile, my first real adventure began.

We went to Ek Balam. Ek Balam is an ancient temple area with many beautiful structures...and there are few visitors so i easily got to be alone in mystical spaces.

Also, next to the temple area is a small towm by the same name where very few people speak Spanish...only Maya.

All over Arches...nothing but spectacular and mystical acoustical spaces. Here are some samples:

Deep inside a large formation in Arches, we found an amazing cavern which i call “Yoni Cavern” due to its extreme similarity to the sacred female gateway.

Strangely ironic and symbolic, my didjeridu never sounded so incredible...a perfect sonic match.
